Carlo Rambaldi, goodbye…

“Carlo Rambaldi, father of ‘E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial’, has died today in Lamezia Terme, Italy, where he lived with his family.

Rambaldi won the Oscar for best special effects on three occasions: the first with King Kong by John Guillermin, 1976.  In 1979, together with Hans Ruedi Giger, helping to give life to another famous creature: “Alien“, by Ridley Scott.

But his masterpiece came in 1982 when he moved the entire world with the protagonist of ET The Extra-Terrestrial, directed by Steven Spielberg.”

Goodbye, and thank you…

Carlo Rambaldi was E.T.’s Geppetto.  All of us who marveled and wondered at his craft and artistry are deeply saddened by the news of his passing.
